Dan Christensen is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. He is an Affiliate Member of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. His research interests primarily revolve around algebraic topology, with particular emphasis on stable homotopy theory and model categories. Christensen has contributed significantly to the fields of homotopy type theory and univalent foundations, category theory including higher categories, derived categories, modular representation theory, and mathematical physics focusing on quantum gravity and computation. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Homology, Homotopy Applications and is actively involved in organizing the Homotopy Type Theory Electronic Seminar Talks. He supervises graduate students and leads a research group that includes postdoctoral researchers and Ph.D. students. His work also includes contributions to various platforms and initiatives aimed at enriching the mathematical community.
