Biography

Paula Waters is an Associate Professor at Sherbrooke University in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, specifically within the Department of Pediatrics. Her research focuses on inherited metabolic disorders and inborn errors of metabolism. She has been heavily involved in several professional societies related to her field, including the Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism and the Society of Inherited Metabolic Disorders. Dr. Waters earned her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom and completed her postdoctoral research fellowship in Human Genetics at McGill University. Her prior work experiences include a Clinical Laboratory Scientist role at BC Children's Hospital and contributions to the field through her role as a member of the Clinical Faculty at the University of British Columbia. With expertise in biochemical genetics, she has contributed to significant publications and advancements in the area of genome editing. Waters has a strong commitment to research and education in the area of metabolic disorders, aiming to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes through her work in genetic research and clinical applications.
