Dr. Ayan Sadhu

Biography

Dr. Sadhu's research focuses on addressing practical challenges in structural health monitoring, harnessing the capabilities of modern sensing technologies. His current projects involve theoretical and experimental research in areas such as structural condition assessment, damage detection, pattern recognition, vibration control, Artificial Intelligence, and information modeling techniques for large-scale structures. His research has resulted in numerous articles and proposed algorithms that have been successfully implemented in full-scale structures across North America and Europe. Dr. Sadhu secured the Canada Research Chair (Tier-2) position in Smart Sustainable Civil Infrastructure and has received the prestigious Early Researcher Award from the Ministry of Ontario. His research has been supported by NSERC Discovery Alliance grants, CFI-JELF, and various industry partners. He has also received the Junior Faculty Award for Excellence in Research from Western Engineering. Currently, Dr. Sadhu serves as the Director of the Smart Cities and Communities (SCC) Laboratory at Western University and is leading an interdisciplinary research theme on smart cities and communities supported by Western Academy Advanced Research (WAFAR).
