Brandon Takayuki Hillier is a sessional assistant professor and economic geographer whose research emphasizes urban studies and geography. His work focuses on the intersection of Canadian educational systems and American industries, particularly the movement of engineering graduates from the Kitchener-Waterloo region to major hubs like the Bay Area and New York. He has a specific interest in the dynamics of cross-border labor markets, regional development, and occupational communities, utilizing Bourdieusian analysis to understand work cultures and elite formations. Additionally, Hillier teaches courses related to urban and environmental studies and actively contributes to scholarly output through various edited volumes and research projects.
