Biography

Davide Gaiotto is a theoretical physicist with a focus on mathematical physics. His research primarily explores the interplay between quantum field theory (QFT) and string theory, as well as algebraic geometry. Gaiotto's contributions to the field include significant work on supersymmetric and topological quantum field theories, enhancing the understanding of their intricate structures and applications. He holds the Krembil Galileo Galilei Chair at the Perimeter Institute, where he is also a research faculty member and directs the Perimeter Research Chair initiative. His accolades include the 2024 Frontiers Science Award and the 2019 New Horizons Physics Prize from the Fundamental Physics Prize Foundation, among others. Gaiotto has been instrumental in various prestigious collaborations and has received significant research funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. He continues to publish extensively in high-impact journals, contributing to advancing the frontiers of theoretical physics.
