Biography

Shohini Ghose is a Professor in the Department of Physics and the Department of Computer Science at Wilfrid Laurier University, where she serves as the NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering and is the Director of Research Programs at the Centre for Women in Science. She is also the Chief Technology Officer of the Quantum Algorithms Institute. Ghose's research focuses on quantum computing and quantum communication, particularly exploring the connections between classical chaos and quantum physics. Her work has led to significant advancements in the understanding of how quantum chaos affects entanglement and teleportation. As a leading figure in promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in science, she has initiated numerous research projects aimed at addressing gender issues in the field. Ghose was featured as a TED Senior Fellow in 2018 and has received multiple awards, including the Science Teaching Excellence Award at Wilfrid Laurier University and the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. She actively engages with the scientific community through numerous publications and outreach initiatives, emphasizing the importance of inspiring the next generation of women scientists.
