Biography

Monique Turmel is a retired professor who specialized in Computer Engineering, with a solid academic background from École Polytechnique de Montréal, where she earned her B.Ing. in 2002, M.Sc.A. in 2004, and Ph.D. in 2007. She then pursued postdoctoral training at the Iyengar Lab & Systems Biology Center at Mount Sinai School of Medicine from 2007 to 2011. Monique has been recognized with multiple awards including the Star of Teaching from the Faculty of Science and Engineering in 2021, 2020, 2016, and 2012, underscoring her commitment to education and mentorship in the field. Throughout her career, she has contributed to numerous academic endeavors and research initiatives in biochemistry, microbiology, and bioinformatics. She is affiliated with Université Laval and has been instrumental in higher education recruitment efforts.
