Dr. José Urquiza

Professor

Biography

José Urquiza is a full professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Université Laval. His research interests primarily focus on numerical analysis of partial differential equations, particularly those arising from mechanics, finite element methods, and the control of hyperbolic partial differential equations such as wave equations. He has an extensive academic background, having earned his Ph.D. in Numerical Analysis from Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris 6) in 2000, and also completed a DEA in Numerical Analysis at the same institution in 1995. He has held postdoctoral positions at INRIA in Paris (2000-2001) and CRM in Montreal (2002-2004). José is an active member of CIMMUL and GIREF, contributing to research and teaching at the graduate level.
