Dr. Sarah Gee earned her Ph.D. from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and has an M.Sc. and BHK from Lakehead University. With 15 years of experience at universities in New Zealand, she joined the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor in December 2017. Dr. Gee's current research focuses on the socio-cultural and political-economic significance of alcohol sponsorship in sports, examining consumption patterns within sport-related drinking cultures and the role of sports clubs in fostering social connections and civic life. She employs qualitative methods to explore these complex interactions, particularly through the lens of gender issues in sport and media representation. Her research analyzes the portrayal of masculinity in sport-related media and the role of advertisers in shaping these narratives. Dr. Gee has received external funding for her research projects and has been recognized with the Early Career Research Medal from the College of Health at Massey University in 2016. She co-authored a book with Prof. Steve Jackson titled 'Sport, Promotional Culture and the Crisis of Masculinity' and has published research in various international journals. Additionally, she serves as an expert reviewer for several academic journals and is a current Editorial Board member of the Sociology of Sport Journal and Communication & Sport.
