I am a Professor in the Department of Religion at the University of Manitoba, where I have worked since 2009. My main research areas include late ancient philosophy and medicine. I focus on the ideas of spirits, particularly demons, in the context of late ancient Platonism (300-450 CE). I have completed a significant amount of work, including a co-authored sourcebook on ancient medicine, and I am currently engaged in projects examining the concepts of plants within the ancient world. My work aims to inform contemporary ecological discussions, drawing from recent developments in object-oriented ontology and new materialisms. Additionally, I am passionate about gardening and pottery in my spare time.
