Anastasia Tataryn joined the Faculty of St. Jerome's University in January 2020, currently serving as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology and Legal Studies. She has previously lectured in Law at the University of Liverpool from 2015 to 2020 and held academic positions at the School of Law, Birkbeck College, University of London, and Warwick Law School, University of Warwick. Tataryn's research explores the limits of legal frameworks, focusing on labour/employment law and immigration law, and engages with de-coloniality, feminist theory, and post-structuralist approaches to law. She conducts research on the complex ideas surrounding home, citizenship, and legal subjectivity, often incorporating Indigenous research methodologies and various epistemological perspectives. Her academic background includes a PhD from Birkbeck, an LLM from Osgoode Hall Law School, an MA in History from York University, and a BA Honours from the University of Saskatchewan. Tataryn has been actively involved in the international academic community, serving as external examiner for the University of Westminster and participating in major conferences. She has published several books and articles addressing topics like migration, labour law, and legal theory, making significant contributions to her fields of study.
