Biography

Catherine Perron is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Sherbrooke, specializing in social work. She focuses on issues surrounding medical assistance in dying, end-of-life care, and mental health. She earned her Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Montreal, where she also received her Master's degree in Social Work. In addition to her academic roles, she has been involved in clinical ethics and has held positions at various healthcare institutions. Catherine's research interests include accessibility to healthcare services, legislative frameworks surrounding medical assistance in dying, and the psychosocial aspects of end-of-life care. She actively participates in research funding projects aimed at understanding the nuances of end-of-life care practices and has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences. She is a member of various professional associations pertaining to social work and clinical ethics in Quebec.
