Dawn Moore is a Professor in the Department of Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University. She is currently completing a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded project that examines police responses to domestic violence and the use of evidence and expertise in policing. Her book manuscript under contract with Routledge, entitled ‘Making Victims’, investigates the experiences of individuals with lived experience of domestic violence and critiques the societal systems that label them as 'victims'. Dawn's ongoing research interests include criminal justice, the impacts of drug treatment courts, and transparency within prison systems in Canada, Argentina, and Spain. She actively engages with various academic and activist communities to map cultures of transparency and address human rights abuses in prisons. In her teaching, she supervises graduate-level theses and is known for her hands-on approach to mentorship.
