Biography

Sue is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University, teaching in the Master of Disability Studies program. She is also a research fellow at the NextSense Institute, previously known as the Renwick Centre, which caters to children with vision impairment. Susan manages the Australian Childhood Vision Impairment Register and has a significant role in developing inclusive education practices. Her research focuses on various aspects of childhood vision impairment, including assessment methodologies and the impacts of vision function on children's outcomes. She holds a PhD in Shifting Focus on Causes Impact: Reshaping Assessment of Childhood Vision Function, awarded in April 2019. Susan has contributed to several projects and is involved with international associations related to orthoptics. Her extensive experience in teaching, research, and management in the field of disability studies underlines her commitment to advancing knowledge and support for individuals with disabilities.
