Professor Prasanth Nair leads the Decision Analytics Computational Engineering Research Group at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS). He obtained his doctorate degree from the University of Southampton in 2000 after earning his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai in 1995 and 1997, respectively. Since joining UTIAS in March 2011, he has been recognized as a Tier-II Canada Research Chair in Computational Modeling, Design Optimization, and Uncertainty from 2011 to 2021, and served as Associate Director for Graduate Studies from 2020 to 2023. His research focuses on scalable numerical methods for learning from large datasets, approximation functions, state estimation, Bayesian model calibration, and the discovery of continuous operator equations from temporal spatio-temporal data streams. His work spans fields including computational science, aerospace design, computational neuroscience, biomedical device design, and computational materials science.
