Dr. David Clarke

Associate Professor

Biography

David C. Clarke is an Associate Professor in the School of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Honours Kinesiology from Laurentian University followed by a Master of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Biological Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Following his doctorate, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Department of Biological Engineering. Clarke's research focuses on quantitative exercise biology, developing predictive models for exercise-training adaptations, and optimizing training programs for health and rehabilitation. His work includes interdisciplinary approaches that integrate exercise physiology, systems biology, and biomedical engineering to inform effective exercise programming. Over the years, he has published numerous articles in reputable journals addressing critical topics such as exercise-responsive cell signaling, sports analytics, and evidence-based exercise programming. His teaching includes courses on exercise physiology and advanced exercise programming, nurturing the next generation of leaders in his field.
