Dr. James Zheng

Biography

James Zheng earned his Ph.D. in Software Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2015. He is currently an Associate Professor at Macquarie University, Australia, where he also serves as the Director of the Intelligent Systems Research Group and Deputy Program Leader for Software Engineering. Dr. Zheng is an ARC Future Fellow actively involved in research on Cyber-Physical Systems, particularly focusing on testing, verification, safety analysis, and distributed learning. He has secured over $2.4 million in competitive funding from the Australian Research Council and is a recognized author with numerous highly cited papers in his field. He has served on program committees for leading software systems conferences and holds editorial duties in various journals. In 2023, Dr. Zheng was a visiting professor at UCLA and co-founded an international workshop on trustworthy autonomous cyber-physical systems. His research interests include testing and verifying complex software systems, AI System Safety, and leveraging machine learning models for enhanced software engineering practices.
