Steve Lambert is a Professor in Mechanical Mechatronics Engineering, cross-appointed to the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. As an NSERC Chair in Design Engineering, his work emphasizes the development of engineering design case studies aimed at enhancing the engineering curriculum through the demonstration of design application in real-world engineering science contexts. Lambert's research is centered around learning techniques that improve design processes, directly linking to his proposed research initiatives. He is involved in two AUTO21 research projects that focus on the design of electric and hybrid electric vehicles, investigating the use of ultracapacitors, energy management integration, and vehicle control strategies to maximize the advantages of electric drivetrains. Additionally, Lambert serves as a theme coordinator for Design Processes within the AUTO21 Network Centre of Excellence and is the Canadian task leader for the three-country Magnesium Front End Research and Development (MFERD) project, which includes partners from Canada, China, and the United States.
