Thomas Curran is the Inglis Professor at the University of King's College. He serves as the Clerk of Convocation and has a special interest in early 19th-Century German philosophy with a particular emphasis on Hegel’s lectures on the philosophy of religion at the University of Berlin. His research has evolved to explore concepts of intertextuality, particularly how Dante’s Divine Comedy engages with and transforms ideas from great precursors including Aristotle, Vergil, and St. Thomas Aquinas to create a unique structure to his epic poem. Curran is also interested in examining modern popular culture practices that are informed by and reformulated through references to the philosophical and literary traditions inherited from the ancient Greeks. His recent project is titled 'Fake Facsimile'. Curran's extensive body of work includes several publications focusing on various aspects of philosophy and literature.
