Professor Adrian Smith joined the Osgoode Hall Law School faculty in July 2018 as an Associate Professor and currently serves as the Academic Director of Parkdale Community Legal Services, focusing on teaching poverty law. He has a diverse academic background, having completed his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Political Science and History at Western, and his law degrees (LLB, LLM) at Osgoode followed by doctoral studies (DCL) at McGill. His research is centered on the intersections of law, political economy, and social justice, particularly within colonial and settler colonial contexts. His work addresses issues such as labor regulation, migration, and the impact of social movements. Professor Smith has conducted research across various regions, including Northern Africa and the Americas, and has collaborated with youth activists working towards environmental justice. Notably, he is a co-editor of the volume 'Unfree Labour? Struggles of Migrant and Immigrant Workers in Canada'. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he is actively involved in community initiatives and youth engagement through coaching basketball.
