Raul Wildbolz-Gallego is a doctoral candidate at the Paul Bairoch Institute of Economic History and UniDistance Switzerland. His research focuses on the study of financial networks from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century. Specifically, his dissertation investigates Occidental Swiss financial networks, particularly in Geneva and Basel, which enabled investors to place and diversify their capital across various types of investments throughout Europe, ultimately increasing the surplus capital available in these regions despite low interest rates. These financial networks played a crucial role for Swiss investors and significantly impacted locations, transforming the French public financial system. His work falls at the intersection of financial history and modern economic history, contributing to comprehensive understanding of commercial capitalism and network analysis.
