Dr. Rudolf Seethaler

Biography

Rudolf Seethaler is a Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, having joined the institution in 2006 after a career in industry and academia. He completed his MASc and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from UBC. Prior to his academic appointment, he worked at BMW in Germany where he managed the introduction of parametric surfacing technologies into CAD systems and led projects focused on the development of electromagnetic valve trains for internal combustion engines. He is involved in research on mechatronics, specifically sensorless control of piezoelectric actuators and optimization of composite materials. Seethaler has published numerous papers on topics related to CNC machine tools and mechatronic systems, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing the field through both academic inquiry and practical applications.
