Biography

Raphaëlle Luisier is a leading researcher in the field of Genomics Health Informatics at the Idiap Research Institute, where she heads a dedicated research group focused on RNA metabolism and its implications in neurological disorders. Since joining Idiap in November 2019, she has developed dynamic research initiatives, securing over 600,000 CHF in funding for her projects from various prestigious sources, including the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Novartis Foundation. Luisier has a robust academic background with a Master's degree in Bioengineering Biotechnology from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) completed in 2009, followed by a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Basel in 2013. Her current research involves employing advanced computational methods inspired by signal processing to analyze multimodal biological data, contributing significantly to understanding incurable diseases through multidisciplinary collaboration. Her commitment to cross-disciplinary research is evidenced by ongoing collaborations with esteemed institutions such as the Francis Crick Institute and University College London. She actively teaches bioinformatics and artificial intelligence in clinical education, aiming to enhance the visibility of computational methods in her field through peer-reviewed publications.
