Lawrence (Larry) Plummer, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Ivey Business School’s Entrepreneurship group. He earned his Ph.D. in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Prior to his current role, Professor Plummer held positions as an Assistant Professor of Management with a focus on entrepreneurship at both the University of Oklahoma's Price College of Business and Clemson University's College of Business and Behavioral Science. In 2004, he was named a Management Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Economics in Jena, Germany. His research focuses on new venture creation, growth, and performance, with a particular emphasis on the geographical aspects of entrepreneurship through the lens of spatial economics and economic geography. Additionally, he investigates location choices that entrepreneurs make when starting businesses, analyzing the spatial competition among firms and its implications for the survival and performance of new ventures. Plummer's research has been published in prestigious journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Business Venturing, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. Beyond his academic pursuits, he serves as a research fellow at the Institute for Military Veteran Families at Syracuse University and teaches programs aimed at veterans and their families at Florida State University and Syracuse University.
