Chris Oriet is a professor at the University of Regina in the Department of Psychology. He serves as the Associate Dean for Planning Programs in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research. With a Ph.D. from Waterloo, Oriet specializes in cognitive psychology, focusing on various aspects of human information processing, including face recognition and attentional limitations. His research interests include face learning, experience, and perception, which delve into how individuals process visual information and the effects of attention on memory and perception. Oriet’s work contributes to the understanding of cognitive mechanisms and has implications for broader fields such as artificial intelligence and accessibility in technology. He leads the Integrative Cognitive Experimentation Lab where innovative studies are conducted to explore these concepts further. In particular, he has received funding from the NSERC Discovery Development Grant for his research on in-person variability and representation in memory.
