Robin Hicks is a Professor at the University of Victoria where he serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University and a PhD from the University of Guelph, complemented by a NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Hicks's research focuses on coordination chemistry, emphasizing the design and study of coordination complexes involving transition metals, main group elements, and lanthanides. His work extensively explores synthetic inorganic and organic chemistry, particularly the development and application of coordination complexes with functional ligands that exhibit redox-active and spin-containing properties. His ultimate goal is to develop a wide range of molecules for applications in advanced electronic and optical materials, catalysis, and alternative energy. Additionally, Hicks teaches courses in inorganic chemistry and materials chemistry, including introductory and advanced courses on structure and bonding, as well as materials science.
