Dr. Cinthia Duclos

Biography

Cinthia Duclos has been a professor at the Faculty of Law at Laval University since 2013 and a lawyer at the Bar of Quebec since 2008. After earning a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Laval University, she worked at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg as a student, intern, and then lawyer, primarily in commercial litigation. She completed her doctoral studies in financial services law in 2019 under the supervision of Professor Raymonde Crête. Her thesis, published in 2021, examines the influence of organizational failures on the protection of investors in the financial services industry, utilizing the Swiss Cheese Model framework. Duclos is also responsible for overseeing the Financial Services Law Laboratory (LABFI) since its inception in May 2022, which promotes education and research in financial services law in partnership with the Autorité des marchés financiers, Beneva, and Laval University. She has held various roles in academic committees and is a member of the Board of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Duclos' research interests include financial services law, corporate governance, and corporate law.
