Biography

Sravya Tekumalla is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Victoria, Canada. She holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the National University of Singapore and has been awarded prestigious fellowships, including the Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship at Nanyang Technological University and the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research. Her research focuses on innovative techniques in metal additive manufacturing and materials design, particularly for lightweight biodegradable magnesium-based alloys and composites used in temporary implant applications. Additionally, her work involves low modulus titanium alloys and smart biocompatible alloys, which have important applications in fracture fixation devices such as stents and orthopedic implants. She encourages motivated candidates with backgrounds in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering to apply for graduate studies under her guidance.
