Sylvain Giroux is a Professor in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sherbrooke. He has an extensive academic background with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Montreal (1993) and has served as a professor since 2001. His research focuses on smart homes, the Internet of Things, cognitive assistance, telemonitoring, context-awareness, ambient intelligence, mixed reality, and transdisciplinary research. Over the years, he has received numerous grants from funding bodies such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to support his research activities. Giroux has taught various courses related to functional programming and distributed systems, contributing significantly to the academic development of his students and the technological advancement in his field. His collaborative research efforts aim to enhance the quality of life for older adults through innovative technological solutions.
