Biography

Jenny-Lee Thomassin is an Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She holds a BSc in Biology with honors, a Diploma in Forensic Science, an MSc in Microbiology Immunology, and a PhD in Microbiology Immunology. Her academic journey includes post-doctoral training in renowned institutions such as McGill University and Institut Pasteur, where she focused on molecular microbiology and genetics. Dr. Thomassin's research interests include the molecular mechanisms of protein secretion and the interactions of bacteria with their local environments. Currently, her lab studies the type II secretion system (T2SS) in Klebsiella pneumoniae and pathogenic Escherichia coli. Her work employs multidisciplinary approaches to investigate the regulation and mechanisms of protein secretion and how bacterial survival is promoted in various niches.
