Dr. Chris Bone

Associate Professor

Biography

Chris Bone is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in Geography at the University of Victoria. He holds a PhD from Simon Fraser University and has over a decade of experience focusing on the intersection of human and environmental systems. His research interests lie in Geospatial technologies and spatial simulation modeling, with a particular emphasis on human-environment interactions. Dr. Bone has actively engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations among social, natural, and computational sciences to address the impacts of climate change and forest policies on large-scale forest insect outbreaks. His work encompasses a variety of computational analytical methods including agent-based modeling, network modeling, web mapping, and the application of geographic information systems and remote sensing in understanding the dynamics of climate-induced disturbances on diverse human populations. He teaches GEOG 418/518 Advanced Spatial Analysis Geo-statistics, shaping the next generation of scholars in the field of spatial data science.
