Biography

Sophie Couture is a Professor in the Faculty of Education at the Université de Sherbrooke, specializing in psychoeducation. She focuses on research areas including risk-taking behaviors among at-risk youth, juvenile runaways, youth protection, and delinquency. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Criminology from the Université de Montréal. She has previously held positions such as Researcher at the Institute of Youth in Difficulty and Coordinating Researcher at the Douglas Institute. Sophie has been actively involved in various research projects, examining the protective factors for youth in rehabilitation centers and investigating the intersection of trauma and delinquency. Throughout her career, she has received multiple grants from organizations like the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, addressing diverse topics from emotional and behavioral disorders in school-aged children to effective practices for sexually exploited youth. Professor Couture teaches several courses on scientific approaches and research methods, nurturing the next generation of researchers and practitioners in the field. She is also a Consulting Editor for the Journal of Research on Adolescence.
