Biography

Laurene Rehman is a Professor and Director of the School of Health and Human Performance at Dalhousie University. She holds a PhD in Recreation Leisure Studies from the University of Waterloo, and has over 25 years of experience in academia with a focus on recreation management and leisure studies. Her research interests center on understanding the factors that support or constrain participation in family leisure, particularly in the context of physical activity. She co-chairs the Let's Get Moving Halifax Regional Municipality initiative, which aims to promote physical activity in the community. Her noteworthy publications include studies on the impact of outdoor space access on children's health during pandemic restrictions and evaluations of after-school physical activity programs. Rehman's work contributes to the discourse on children's movement behaviors and family leisure dynamics, emphasizing inclusion and access to active leisure opportunities.
