Dr. Gil Bub

Associate Professor

Biography

Dr. Gil Bub is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology at McGill University. His research focuses on understanding cardiac dynamics, particularly in the development of imaging and computational methods. His work includes developing novel microscopy modalities and analysis and simulation programs aimed at improving the study of heart excitation patterns. Key projects involve creating fast two-photon microscopes for deep tissue cardiac imaging and high throughput screening tools for cardiac stem cell research. His laboratory utilizes innovative techniques such as optogenetics and ultra-fast sensors to explore excitation waves within muscle tissues, employing experimental models including bio-engineered sheets of myocytes and co-cultures of myocytes and neurons, as well as whole hearts.
