Alexander Dyck is a Professor of Finance at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, where he holds the Manulife Financial Chair in Financial Services. He is also the current Academic Director of the David Sharon Johnston Institute for Corporate Governance Innovation. Dyck received his PhD in Economics from Stanford University and an Honors BA in Economics and Political Science from Western University. His academic and administrative roles include serving as the Director of the Director’s Education Program and the Capital Markets Institute, along with involvement in various advisory boards related to corporate governance and financial regulation. Previously, he held the position of Associate Professor at Harvard Business School, teaching MBA and doctoral programs, as well as executive education. Dyck's teaching focuses on Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Private Equity across graduate and undergraduate programs. His research interests encompass corporate governance, corporate finance, sustainability, pensions, regulation, media financial markets, and taxation.
