Chad Walker is an interdisciplinary environmental social scientist whose research interests focus on justice, equity, and public support for low-carbon transitions. His recent work includes examining the impact of environmental justice on support for wind energy and critically investigating the significance of community in local energy discussions. He employs a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methodologies to spur interest in mixed methods research. Chad earned his PhD in Geography (Environment and Sustainability) from Western University, where he previously completed his Master's degree in the same field. He has worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Queen's University and has also collaborated with the University of Exeter and the University of Saskatchewan before joining Dalhousie University as an Assistant Professor in the School of Planning in 2022. He holds a cross-appointment with the School of Resource and Environmental Studies, where he continues to engage in research-related partnerships and community involvement. His primary research areas include low-carbon energy transitions, Indigenous-led renewable energy development, climate change, and environmental policy planning. Chad is also dedicated to teaching and mentoring students in various courses related to planning and social justice.
