Biography

Lisa Lazarus is a critical social scientist with a focus on community-based research methodologies in the field of HIV sciences. Her work, deeply rooted in social justice, aims to democratize community-based research partnerships across various research disciplines. Dr. Lazarus has partnered with community-based organizations, particularly those led by sex workers and individuals who use substances, in countries such as India, Kenya, and Canada. In addition, she has conducted collaborative research studies in Ukraine. Through her work, she strives to center community voices and ensure that research questions are driven by community priorities. She has been involved in community-based research since 2010, contributing significantly to the understanding of HIV prevention and treatment.
