Dr. Geoffrey Messier

Biography

Geoffrey Messier is a Professor at the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary. He is a Full Member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research. His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta. He also holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary. Geoffrey's research interests focus on data science as it relates to mental health, addiction, and homelessness, with an emphasis on improving services for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. He participates in various university strategic initiatives. Geoffrey has received several teaching excellence awards from the Schulich School of Engineering and other organizations, recognizing his contributions to education.
