Biography

The Division of History, Arts, and Religious Studies (HKR) at Linköping University brings together scholars from various academic disciplines within the humanities, including history, art history, and religious studies. The division focuses on understanding how thoughts are conveyed through texts, images, and artefacts from the past and present and how these are used in different contexts. By integrating diverse perspectives, HKR enriches the appreciation of human actions, values, behaviors, and artistic expressions, while also addressing the processes that connect history and the present. Research conducted in this division encompasses a variety of subjects, emphasizing the practical implications of historical scholarship. The division also hosts the Centre for Local History and collaborates with multiple departments and programs, including partnerships in teacher training and cooperation with foreign universities under the Erasmus program, facilitating student and teacher exchanges. HKR is committed to working with local institutions and organizations within the Östergötland region, enhancing community engagement and understanding of historical narratives.
