Biography

Alessandro Mongili is a Visiting Professor at the University of Padua and a sociologist specializing in Science and Technology Studies (STS). He obtained his doctorate in sociology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Mongili has held various visiting scholar positions at prestigious institutions such as the University of California, Berkeley, Santa Clara University, and Stanford University, as well as the Imperial University in Tokyo. His research primarily focuses on the intersection of technology and society, particularly in the context of peripheral regions and socio-technical processes. Key publications include works on the changing landscape of Soviet science and socio-technical infrastructure, as well as discussions surrounding the challenges of endangered languages. He is also the founder and president of the Italian Society for Science and Technology Studies (STS Italia). Throughout his career, Mongili has been dedicated to understanding the role of computing design and innovation in promoting sustainable development, especially in underrepresented areas.
