Dr. Richard Amos

Associate Professor

Biography

Richard Amos is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Environmental Interdisciplinary Sciences and the Department of Earth Sciences at Carleton University. His research primarily focuses on the challenges posed by contaminant hydrogeology and the impacts of mining and industrial activities on groundwater quality. He is particularly interested in understanding the biogeochemical reactions and transport processes that influence groundwater systems. His work aims to develop strategies for managing waste and remediating contaminated sites to ensure the provision of potable water for human populations, especially in regions affected by climate change and increasing resource stress. Through a fundamental study of physical, hydrological, and biogeochemical processes, Amos contributes to a broad range of issues related to earth and environmental sciences.
