Lauren Beck specializes in visual culture in the early-modern Atlantic world, focusing on place, identity, and marginalized voices. She holds the Canada Research Chair in Intercultural Encounter and is a Professor of Visual & Material Culture Studies at Mount Allison University. Beck serves as the editor of 'Cultural History Exploration' and has contributed to notable publications, including 'Canada’s Place Names Change' (Concordia University Press, 2022) and 'Mitji: Let’s Eat! Mi’kmaq Recipes Sikniktuk' (Nimbus Press, 2024). Her articles have appeared in prestigious journals such as the Renaissance Quarterly and the Journal of Women's History. Currently, she holds external grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Canada History Fund, and the Canada Foundation for Innovation.
