Shernaz Bamji is a Professor in the Department of Cellular and Physiological Sciences and currently serves as the Associate Director of the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health at the University of British Columbia. She is also the incoming President-elect of the Canadian Association of Neurosciences. Dr. Bamji received her Ph.D. from McGill University and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Francisco. Her research focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neural connectivity and synaptic plasticity. This work has provided critical insights into the fundamental mechanisms associated with learning and memory processes, particularly in pathological conditions. Through her research, she aims to enhance the understanding of how disruptions in synaptic connections affect cognitive and functional abilities.
