Mélanie Courtot is an Assistant Professor at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR), directing the Genome Informatics group. Her research focuses on the development and implementation of software and databases necessary for managing large complex datasets produced by cancer research programs. She is passionate about translational informatics, striving to construct intelligent systems that offer novel insights into human health by leveraging big data. Courtot co-leads the Clinical Phenotypic workstream for data harmonization efforts within the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) and has previously served as a metadata standards coordinator at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). Her educational background includes a BSc in Biochemistry and a Master's in Computer Science from Université Louis Pasteur in France, followed by a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of British Columbia. Courtot is active in research regarding data quality and integration, particularly for human cohorts, to predict health outcomes and facilitate personalized medicine.
