Steffen Docken is a Lecturer at UNSW Sydney, based in the Kirby Institute. He has a strong background in applied mathematics, holding a Ph.D. in the field from the University of California, Davis, which he completed in 2018. His research primarily focuses on the mathematical modeling of diseases, with a particular interest in the mechanisms underlying the growth and persistence of pathogens such as HIV, Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV), malaria, and COVID-19. He collaborates closely with other researchers in virology and immunology to enhance the understanding of these diseases. Throughout his academic career, Docken has published numerous articles in influential journals, contributing significantly to the field of mathematical biology and the modeling of infectious diseases.
