Ratna Shrestha is a Sessional Lecturer at the Vancouver School of Economics and the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Hawaii, Manoa. Her primary research interests include Environmental Economics, Resource Economics, Public Finance, and Healthcare Policy. Her notable publications include significant works on pollution permit trading and the implications of regulatory uncertainty in pollution control. Shrestha has also contributed to literature on healthcare insurance policies in Nepal and algorithms for identifying free riders in public goods provision. In addition to her research, she teaches graduate courses in Managerial Economics as well as undergraduate courses in her fields of expertise. Originally from Bandipur, a small town in Nepal, she remains active in the Nepali community in the Greater Vancouver area.
