Salima Meherali is an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Nursing and serves as the Associate Dean, International. She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Alberta and has completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution. Her research interests focus on global child and adolescent health, with specific emphasis on immigrant youth's sexual and reproductive health rights and mental health. Dr. Meherali actively engages in community-based participatory action research and works on various projects that aim to address the challenges faced by immigrant adolescents in Canada and low-middle-income countries. She has been nominated principal investigator on several significant grants, addressing topics from the impacts of COVID-19 on adolescents to empowerment programs in Pakistan. Dr. Meherali has extensive teaching experience, previously teaching at Aga Khan University. She is currently accepting graduate students who are interested in pursuing research in child and adolescent health.
