Sara Mackenzie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She holds a B.A. from York University and both an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. Her research interests focus on phonological representations and the interplay between phonetics and phonology. Notably, she explores harmony systems, phonology-morphology interfaces, and the application of Optimality Theory in theoretical frameworks. Her scholarly contributions include significant publications on vowel harmony; analyses of phonological phenomena across various languages; and experimental studies on articulation and acoustics in Newfoundland English.
