João Gomes da Silva graduated in Landscape Architecture from the University of Évora in 1987 and subsequently lectured there as an assistant professor until 1994. Since 2001, he has been an invited Associate Professor at the Architecture Department of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa and has lectured at other universities, contributing to conferences and workshops that focus on theory and practice in Landscape Architecture. In 2015, he was a visiting professor at both Harvard Graduate School of Design and Cornell University. Since 2012, he has been involved in teaching at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, where he runs an atelier with João Nunes and teaches theory courses as an invited Professor and Lecturer. In 2022, he was appointed as an Adjunct Professor at the Accademia. He is also a member of the Scientific Council of the École Nationale Supérieure du Paysage in Versailles as an external member. His professional focus since 1985 has been dedicated to the critical production of Landscape Architecture, and he co-founded Global Arquitectura Paisagista in 1997 with Inês Norton.
