Dr. Irina Emelianova

Biography

Irina Emelianova has a strong academic background, graduating in Art History in Moscow. She has gained valuable experience through an internship at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and has participated in educational exchanges at the University of Naples ‘L’Orientale’ and the University of Venice ‘Ca’ Foscari’. She was awarded a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship to pursue a Master of Arts in Italian Language, Literature and Civilization at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). Emelianova was co-curator of an important exhibition at the Museo Comunale d’Arte Moderna di Ascona in 2015. Between 2016 and 2021, she worked as an assistant and PhD student at USI's Institute for the History and Theory of Art and Architecture, culminating in her doctoral thesis, which she defended with highest honors in 2022. She currently serves as a scientific collaborator and lecturer at the same institute, with research interests in modern and contemporary art and architecture, as well as cultural studies.
